Ah. When I tried to look it up I got a bunch of terminology that wasn’t very distinct, so I just defaulted to what I’d heard before.
I think butch is still around, but now there are also masc people who can look like butches but should not be referred to as butches, unless that is their wish.
Butch is definitely still around, my best friend is butch 😅 there’s concern butch doesnt exist anymore??
It has a specific meaning not everyone identifies with, but I very regularly meet folks for whom Butch is what captures a part of their identity, sexuality, and gender. And alternately, sometimes also meet people who identify as masc 🤷🏻♂️
