I pronounce it the way I was taught when earning my A+ cert ten years ago, “you-fee”. This is how I’ve always heard it pronounced by other professionals. The only time I’ve heard it pronounced differently is by non-professionals.
That being said, I still use the term “BIOS” when referring to “the firmware interface” for the simple fact that if you call it a UEFI and it’s a BIOS, someone will smugly correct you. Other way around, nobody bats an eye.
I thought about referring to her when describing the pronunciation but decided to go with something more universally understood (and I’m sure at least on person thinks it rhymes with “yuppie”).
The character is Yuffie Kisaragi from ‘Final Fantasy VII’, a JRPG game for PS1 from 1997 with astonishing staying power. I’m guessing the recent-ish quasi-remakes for PS4 have something to do with that, but FF7 has been in popular culture for the last thirty years pretty much non-stop.
This breaks down for professionals that are self taught though. For example, I still to this day, say in my head "F-Stab " for fstab, instead of “F-S-Tab”, and various other terms I learned when i was learning linux myself when I was 13. Didn’t understand at the time that it stood for filesystems table, so f-stab is how I pronounced the term in my head. In the UEFI case, I’ll just pronounce each letter at a time, U-E-F-I.

But I do appreciate the reference.
I don’t. Would you care to explain please? I’ve seen this character posted a number of times in this thread.

Thank you. Yuffie is the joke. Apart from a stab at ff X on a friend’s PS2 I’ve never got into those types of games.

Give it time. “tracert” used to be “tray-cert” in my mind for the longest.
Its been over 20 years, lol f-stab ain’t going anywhere.
nginx, “ing - inks” I’m terrible at license plate puns, too.
I still pronounce it “n-jinx” even though I know now that’s wrong.
That’s how everyone pronounces it in Russian, the native language of Igor Sysoev.
nginx rhymes with eugenics.
You’re not wrong, but Jesus…
Being inside my mind is a curse, I admit. Also, I am technically wrong. According to their marketing page, it’s “engine x”.
like the guys that say interpreter and the other guys that say interpreter
I’m saying ‘trace-ert’ inside my mind, simply because that 's way cooler that ‘trace route’ or whatever.
