And the people belonging to “the party” get to enjoy lavish lifestyles, while the rest suffers and dreams about escaping/emigrating. The don’t want to empower “workers”, it’s just a polifitcal slogan to get themselves into power.

My grandfather was sent to gulag after soviets occupied baltic states, and he died presumably from starvation and overworking.
