I’m envious of the way the French protest their government. They’re literally setting things on fire because their schools aren’t adequate. Because the government tried to raise the retirement age. Because their politicians are shitbags.
I think the biggest obstacle to organizing in the US is the sheer distance. It takes 40 solid hours of driving to get from one side to the other. That’s not counting any breaks. France takes about 14 hours. Doable in a day or so if you push it.
Anyway, I’d sign up for a Revolution if there was a serious contender.
Of course I see the 0.5%. I understand your reasoning, your train of thought, your assessment of the situation, your strategy, etc. Obviously! How could I possibly not? You cannot live in this country without being exposed to mainstream ideas.
The thing you don’t get, because you don’t actually read shit, is that critiques of that strategy exist, which I have read and agree with. I understand the way you think completely. I just disagree with it and agree with other ideas, ideas which you are ignorant of.
I have no interest in explaining any of that to you, for reasons I already explained in my first response to you. You explicitly reject my values, you are aiming to achieve fundamentally different things from me, I have zero respect for you anyway, and as a diehard party loyalist you would never listen to reason.
The reason that you hate me so much is very simple. You have this pretense, this self-image, of being smart, intellectual, progressive, etc. But it’s bullshit. As proven by the fact that you can’t name a single book to recommend me. The only way to maintain that image is when the only people to compare yourself to are MAGAts. Then, people like me show up, who actually do read books, who actually do hold progressive values, and suddenly, that whole bullshit image of yourself collapses. That’s the reason why you hate me. That’s the reason you wish I was never born. That’s why you call me “idiot” and “moron” and say I don’t read, because you are desperately trying to reassert your bullshit, inflated, pseudo-intellectual self-image.
But, as I said from the start, it doesn’t matter. If you don’t need me, stop whining about what I do. If you do need me, give me what I want. If you just wanna butt your head against a wall, knock yourself out. You will get nowhere with me.
Well at least you’re self aware enough to know you’re too stupid to be reasoned with.
I don’t care why you think I can’t be talked out of my position, so long as you are finally getting it through your head that it’s true.
Because as soon as you finally come to terms with that fact, then you are faced with the dilemma that I’ve explained to you several times now. If you can’t persuade me, then you have to decide whether you need the votes of me and people like me or not. If you don’t then there’s no point in whining about us. If you do, then all you can do is ensure we get what we want.
If you were half as smart as you think you are, you’d realize that forcing you and people like you into that dilemma is exactly why I can’t be talked out of my position. But, the beauty of it is that it doesn’t matter whether you can put the pieces together or not. You’re forced into the dilemma, whether you can understand my reasons or not, no matter how “stupid” you think I’m being.
I’m not trying to change you, kid.
