In my sci-fi time travel concept I call that “the speed of time” - the rate at which the universe can change. One consequence of it is that if you go back 100 years, kill Hitler and return to now, history isn’t suddenly different because Hitler died in 1926. Because the changed events of 1926 are propagating forward through the timeline at the same speed as normal change. If you wait 10 years and explore the past again, he’s dead from 1926 to 1936, because the change has propagated forward for 10 years. After 1936 he’s alive, and history is unchanged.
Love that idea! Kind of like speed of light propagation but for time - haven’t come across that before. Do you know if any other sci-fi has explored that, other than your own?
Your flesh vessel is a time machine. It takes you forward around 60s every minute!
