ooh yeah, I’m looking at train rides in Canada now, I haven’t been on one for a few years.

Which routes do you like to take(any country)?

I’m in Oregon, have taken the Amtrak Cascade from Portland to Vancouver and it was quite nice.

My favorite commuter train is the Amtrack Acela, used to take it from NYC to Baltimore. Fastest regional rail in the US, not saying much but it’s something.

Prettiest ride I’ve been on was Zagreb to Ljubljana (Croatia to Slovenia) on the EuroCity Sava line, climbing into the foothills of the Alps through a steep green river gorge.

I saw a Waymo completely run a stop sign in a neighborhood recently. Next day, a different one stopped for the same one. Hmm.

Considering how many humans I see blow through stop signs every day and it’s only taken a few years for robotaxis to surpass human driving safety, I’m okay with the current risk personally.

Across a few blocks anyway, haha.

No. Maybe someday, when I’m too old to drive and that’s the only option left to me, and they work better.

I’ll always prefer human drivers, though. I like the idea that the driver has skin in the game. Machines and the billionaires who profit off of them don’t really care about the people who pay for their products.

I’m not usually fond of beta-testing new hardware, but I think I’ll try one the next time I’m in China.

While I do now, I dont think I’ll always prefer a human driver, we make way too many mistakes and get distracted too easily, and I think the trend will continue for robotaxis will continue to get even more safe than human drivers.

Haven’t ridden in one yet. But I’ve had one pass me on the right using the emergency lane.

I did, I rode one in San Francisco. It seemed a much more conservative driver than most humans, which I liked. I believe that even if the United States went full China on building trains, cars would still be a part of our transit system for the rest of my life, and I hate hate hate driving, so personally I like them.

Cool, I don’t like driving much myself, so Ive always been into the idea of driverless cars.

I think you’re right about cars always being an important part of the US transit system, too.

I have, in San Fransisco. It was eerie to be in a moving car with no one in the driver’s seat, but the drive itself was unremarkable.

Thanks, this chart seemed incomplete to me, part of why I wanted to post it.

I checked again, but I dont think there are any globally accurate maps right now. I know India has at least a few cities piloting robotaxis.
