In the Halloween episode of Community “Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps” (S3E5), Abed’s horror story has the characters waiting through Barry Manilow’s “Daybreak” on the radio before hearing the warning about an escaped killer.
“based on that news report we heard, but not just heard”
Wrong Daybreak by the way, Community Daybreak is by Michael Haggins
Aired 2ish years after ('09 vs '11), but I do like that the narrative trope was being called out for the nonsense that it is.
And that fucker would be the one who would be able to time it right too
All the more reason why the scene stood out.
