    Cis and trans are also very commonly used to describe bonds in chemistry. Cis bonds are both on the same side, trans bonds point in opposite directions (think trans-fats). That’s a rudimentary explanation but the point is cis and trans have been used in the sciences long before trans people were discussed.

    So silly to lose grants over, even if the research was actually about cis and trans humans.

      ‘cis’ being the opposite of ‘trans’ in regards to gender is literally borrowed from chemistry
