Today’s game is some more of the Cobblemon Server I set up for my friends. Today was the first day it was in actual “release”. I ended up finding a way to get both this and the Attack of The B-Team server to run on separate subdomains so I’m happy.
Honestly that’s what I love about having skills like that and being in that field. Like, I don’t really care if it’s profitable. But being able to make cool shit for me and my friends? It’s some of the best things I’ve ever done.

Anyways, I’ve set up camp in a deep set cave system and I’m doing like a whole board walk theme. I think it’s cool. It allows for some fun things with the water I think, plus I can pump it through with create, which is also on this modpack.

Anyways, you know what the worst part about Minecraft is? I feel like when I settle a base down, that’s when I find a cooler location. Like. I found this cool open valley. It would have been awesome to live in. Especially with the way I play? Lots of open space to mess with.

I managed to catch a Gyardos that spawned in to and have been using that to “bully” my friends. But not actually. I’ll just mess with them a little. It’s all in good fun.
On the subject of friends, I know I did a lot of complaining about modern Minecraft yesterday, but I’m glad I set this up for me and my friends. It’s nice to play with them, even if I find it overwhelming. And I think there’s still stuff here for me to enjoy so I’m happy. I ended up being up super late just playing with them. It was fun.
How is cobblemon? My kid is really into Minecraft and I recently got PC couch co-op going and am wondering if it’s worth messing with settings to get new instances with cobblemon setup?
It’s a lot of fun. I find it caters more to the meta side of Pokemon fans, because as far as I can tell there’s no natural structures or anything really, I had to add a mod to that.
If you want a mod where you and your kid are just catching Pokemon and can battle and trade and stuff, it works perfect for that though
Cool, I’ll tinker with it over the weekend and see if I can get it going. I think just catching the mons is all he would want to do anyhow. Thanks
That first photo is just pure cinema, lol. “Moments before disaster” type stuff.
Anyway I wanted to say thanks for posting these;
In addition to the occasional gem of photography, this ongoing saga is just one of those things that make lemmy feel like it’s actually inhabited by real people. I have no idea how you have time for all these games though. XDThe real disaster has come from me discovering create lets me Mail pipe bombs to everyone. I’ve started sending everything in packages, so it forces everyone that asks something from me to hope and pray I didn’t put a pipe bomb in there
As for time, I get lots of free time lol. Once I finish whatever “work” I have for the day I’m left with a few hours to just mess around. These screenshots have kind of motivated me to cut out a lot of the procrastination when it comes to playing games. I just wish it could do the same for other stuff in my life lmao.
Day 818 is wild, congrats on keeping it going. and the part about making cool stuff for your friends and not caring if it’s profitable is so true, I host a few little things nobody pays for and it’s the best part of the hobby I guess. Does the cobblemon server need a lot of ram or does it run fine on modest hardware?
I have it running on a docker container kneecapped at 8 GB of RAM. It’s not perfect, but perfectly playable with the 70+ mods I have
8gb with 70+ mods is way less than I expected, nice. capping it in docker is smart too if it leaks at least it can’t take the rest of the box down with it
Docker has honestly been a big help. It’s nice to have everything stored in little “boxes” like that. Plus it helped with subdomains a little
