So complaining billionaires don’t care about carbon footprint while showcasing an electric car doing stunts using compressed air rather than combustible fuels…brain rot level argument.

I have my own issues with musk but it’s hard to fault him based on on fossil fuels. Guy is in the solar, electric car and electrical power storage businesses (among others). Not like the naked climate denial of others billionaires’ whose profits are directly tied to oil.

an electric car doing stunts using compressed air

Do you know how much energy it would take to compress that much air?

The car they showed apparently had about 600L of air compressed down to 440 bar. Doing that would take at least 500 MJ, more than double just charging the car. That’s wasting a vast amount of energy, much of which will be created by burning carbon.

Regardless, the point of the comic isn’t to say “This car sure burns a lot of carbon”. It’s basically the feeling of constantly being asked to make small but annoying sacrifices to save the planet while other people burn so much energy in a few seconds that all the little annoyances you put up with to try to help are erased instantly.

It’s not at all hard. He’s only green for government subsidies.

Falcon 9: Uses refined kerosene (RP-1) and liquid oxygen (LOX). Each launch burns about 112 tons of kerosene and releases roughly 336 tons of CO₂.

Starship & Super Heavy: Uses liquid methane (CH₄) and liquid oxygen (LOX) in its Raptor engines. A full launch emits around 3,500 to 76,000 metric tons of CO₂.

xAI has installed 59 natural gas turbines for its Colossus 2 data center generating between 6.4 million and 8 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year if operated full-time
