Your last sentence contradicts your first one. Everything you listed is largely specific to Microsoft.

I think an equally large problem, other than the Great Decoupling, is that Microsoft has cannibalized its product to be as extractive as possible; as number is desperately pushed up by disastrous AI integration that nobody asked for, and spyware that breaks laws, people are running for the exits.

There is no contradiction. Microsoft is suffering the fallout of a declared untrustworthy state and attack on customers’ host country’s sovereignty. This same phenomenon, while initially revealed publically by Microsoft, is not unique to them. All us tech is untrustworthy for the same reasons.

I guess I don´t know the European tech landscape in detail, but I feel like Microsoft is particularly at the top of the list after the ICC lost access to its email. But, yes, you’re right, everyone is getting away from US companies. The proposed Canadian-European space program will not have a single piece of US-owned intellectual property.

Microsoft also has always been an aggressive company peddling second rate products (exceptions exist) aiming at domination and extraction. Unfortunately the judiciary never really held MS accountable. Many actually göod, productive and useful American companies were bulldozed by MS. I’m sure quite a few people would have liked to quit MS and have now been given additional reasons to go through the pain.
