Let’s all be real here, outside of programming languages, who the hell has used a semicolon in everyday writing or literary works in the past ~50 years?

I mean; you can use semicolons; whenever you want; really. They indicate; a slight; pause that is too; quick; for a colon; and a period; is right out.

I’m not here to tell you what you can or can’t do — I’d recommend a semicolon to separate a dependent and independent clause though.

And yes, the em dash is there for bait.
