I watched a movie recently about a trans character. That movie had 13 credited actors, one of whom was trans. Let’s say 10 for easy math.
I can easily name 9 movies from the same year that didn’t have any. Many had more than 10 actors. But let’s assume they all had 10. That means that 1 out of these 100 actors was trans. 1%.
I don’t know what the actual totals are, but I would be shocked if the numbers at their peak even crossed the threshold of the population percentage.

Last I checked it’s about 1% of the population is trans, numbers are going up among youth, we’re definitely underrepresented. Also personally it irritates me that most trans roles are for things specifically about trans and queer people or their entire character identity somehow becomes the fact they’re trans. Would be nice to have more “this is a show that has nothing to do with queerness also one of the people is trans, doesn’t come up in any big way”. There have been a few but it’s rare

Lesbians are sporty or “Manley” gays are usually camp. There is so much work to be done Hollywood definitely has its stereo types.
