Why is there a staircase going down right into the bathroom? Is the entire floor bathroom? If not, do the other areas have their own stairs or is all access through the bathroom?
Feels like that’s a basement area in a small house and it’s not super rare to have bathroom type sections like that. But usually there would still be some divider.
My imagination is telling me it’s an apartment with all single room studios that you access each room via trapdoor and you’re actually just living in a furnished pit.
I’m more concerned about the Final Destinationesque hot water tank.
