That’s nothing compared to the scale of death from the full-scale invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, which Obama (like Trump) chose to continue and double down on, when he could’ve stopped it at literally any time.

    USAID

Is is worse to fail to prevent death, or to cause it directly? I don’t really care to engage in this game of whether directly killing hundreds of thousands of people is better or worse than failing to prevent the deaths of millions. Like, it should be clear enough that they’re both irredeemable mass murderers who nobody should be defending.

Two things can be bad at the same time.

I really don’t understand your point. You think trump is not that bad compared to Obama, but yet trump did all of the same things? Also, trump didn’t directly kill them, but I’m not going to discuss whether that’s good or bad. You’ll probably say the same about Covid then? Because he indirectly killed 100s of thousands* of Americans with his policies. Last comment.

My point is that both are bad, and we need an actual alternative. Even in an example that’s supposed to show a real difference between Democrats and Republicans, they both suck ass and they both killed countless innocent people in pointless wars of aggression. Don’t think that just because I hate Obama that I hate Trump any less, I don’t think in those partisan terms.

For 20 years, the war in Afghanistan went on, regardless of whether it was a Democrat or a Republican in office. Many congressional Democrats supported the war. Now, after pouring endless amounts of blood and treasure into it to accomplish absolutely nothing (an outcome that was clear enough long ago), it’s proven to be a total, abject failure.

Part of the reason Trump got elected was because he was able to distance himself from the absolute dogshit establishment wings of both parties. Obviously, it was a lie, which was clear enough before his first term but even more obvious when he got reelected, but people bought into. In part, because Harris, like Clinton and every Democratic nominee for at least the last 20 years, has been a complete, unabashed war hawk, and when they criticize Trump, its usually for being too friendly to “our” supposed enemies. Now, they’ve finally given up on Afghanistan, but they’ve simply shifted the theater to Palestine.

This is obviously unacceptable. It needs to end. END. Not “be reduced in intensity” or “be conducted the right way,” but to END. And that’s never going to happen so long as people show that they’re perfectly happy with meaningless token gestures, polite aesthetics, and a “kinder, gentler machine gun hand.”

More than once I’ve had ideologues argue with me that “slavery wasn’t so bad in this particular system compared to that type of slavery”. Completely unable to understand that I’m capable of hating all sorts of slavery without accepting it as a default “necessary-evil”.

We can acknowledge that Donald is bad without giving a pass to Democrats doing exactly the same fkn thing but with pink washing and feel-good tokens.

Is it good that Dems made room for trans folks and rainbow huggers in the military? Yes. Progress. Yay… but fuck ALL of those imperial babykillers with rusty daggers regardless of their genitals and preferred fuckbuddies and sexuality.
