In my home the washer dryer and fridge both have internet connectivity. Not my purchases…, never connected them, I was like “ha, yeah, I’m a sucker, i’ll hook them up to internet right now”.
I would think that a billion-dollar supermarket chain would be staffed by people smarter than me, but I guess not? and that’s a low bar
p.s. The fridge model I have just recently “shut down” with an update and a lot of people lost their food… this was reported and well known. So that should have been some kind of heads up for them, no? Sad
One would think if even a dumbass like me could secure those fridge connections back to the monitoring station, that someone would have got all over that after the first attack.
