Fun history fact the Cesar salad was named for a 1950’s Mexican chef in I believe Tijuana named Cesar and not for the dictator of Rome, although in a round about way it probably was on several levels, be it the date or the fact that he was named Cesar for the Julius in question or for someone who was named after the guy (with however many steps on between).
His name was Caesar Cardini. He was an Italian restaurateur and hotelier who moved to the US for work and eventually opened his restaurant in Tijuana largely in response to American Prohibition.
