Reminds me of the 00s when every tabletop game got ported to the d20 system (so, ported to be d&d compatible, kinda). It’s a sign of the times when a monopoly starts absorbing everything else. Magic The Gathering just had a massively successful Final Fantasy set this past summer despite there being a full separate Final Fantasy trading card game.
I quit Magic after Rise of the Eldrazi (played since 1998 or so) and seeing all these popular IPs ported into MTG feels REALLY weird to me. I don’t like it at all, but I DO like that it gets more people playing MTG, which is a game I always loved… but also more money for Wizards, who are fucking evil.

And a lot of the artwork from the original card game too.
I really liked the card game as well. I ain’t ever gonna touch the mtg version though
