Reminds me of the movie Burnt Offerings where the old house fixes itself every time someone gets hurt on the grounds.
Ooh I need one of those. I hurt myself all the time but my house just keeps breaking more.
Wtf? Opossums are benifical to the environment, they eat ticks and other pests. Fuck this comic, this is as bad as rewarding for running over a dog.
It’s meant to be a reference to sacrificing an animal to appease the gods/ancestors. If the animal wasn’t beneficial, it wouldn’t be a worthy sacrifice.
Sadly, the tick thing is not true.
That was a fascinating read! Thank you!
Ok but they eat mosquitoes, fuck mosquitoes
Killing animals is still bad.
The comic is mocking sacrificing animals…
Did I say it wasn’t? Other than ticks that is, fuck them.
Mister fun at parties over here lol
This comic is about as car brain as it gets
Not really, it’s just a blood sacrifice joke lol

I see, just didn’t get it then.
Not if you are in New Zealand (and the comic does say possum, not opossum)! Fuck those pests
Right? They are also our only Marsupial!
Pacific drive coded
what did the car sacrifice?
It’s also kind of a joke about false attribution and how superstition, and eventually religion is formed.
that should have been made clear. thanks for discussing!
The possum…
But the car did not own the possum. Running it over costs nothing. Nothing was sacrificed by the car
The possum sacrificed its life
Do you understand?
I understand that ownership is not required for a sacrifice to be a sacrifice.
Some are just offerings of things because the deity wants that type of thing. Doing it at a personal cost is a subset of sacrifices.
stinky’s operating on that War Devil logic

then why wasn’t the possum rewarded instead of the car lol
the image suffers from inconsistent messaging and unintuitive conclusion
shrug
Taking a life is not easy. The burden wears heavy. You can see this in the driver’s worried face. Unfortunately for us, like in the Stephen King movie Christine, there are Eldritch car gods beyond our comprehension who hate things like small animals and unclear roadways. This God blesses the car (and by proxy the driver) as the check engine light was due to its lack of blood lubricant.
The comic is perfectly consistent, picnic.
One more time: Not all sacrificial offerings are personal sacrifices.
The possum wasn’t rewarded because they didn’t choose to be hit by the car.
the car didn’t choose to hit the possum either
Yes, it is absurdist humor and apparently not for you.
That’s not the point of the comic.
