I’ve been trying to write this piece for years. Every time I get started I’m just overwhelmed with paralyzing visions of the FOSS commentariat accusing me of WrongThink, more so here on the fediverse than anywhere else.

But I’m scared and tired and we urgently need to get our shit together.

I have only read the first two paragraphs, but the second paragraph introduces the conversation with

the conversation we ought to be having is about power … and how do we the people take that power back?

After watching this keynote at the 2022 global AI summit about three times, I feel that while we need to talk about power - in a way that is aware of its propensity for terror - “getting it” is not the conversation we should be having, despite numerous actors having already amassed it.
