If a controller gets stick drift (or any other damage including user-inflicted), you can exchange it at no cost if you paid the extra $10. I know stick drift and defects are typically covered under the manufacturer’s warranty but that can be a pain. I sent an elite series 2 controller in 5 times and it was never truly fixed.
With best buys paid extended coverage, I’ve turned in dualsense controller twice now (I’m on my third currently) for a total of $75 USD.
