I saw an article somewhere that pointed out the Hallmark movie formula is targeted at empty nester moms with daughters. It’s their fantasy that their daughter, who has left home to find fulfillment in a career will come back home and fall in love with a local boy, realize that moving to the city was a mistake, and settle down in their home town (near their mother).

Kinda sad when you realize that’s why they’re so successful.
