So, I stopped playing Minecraft when m$ acquired them. I refused to make a ms account. I had already bought the game twice under Mojang.

Just go for open source launchers, Elyprism is a cracked launcher and allow skins using a 3rd party service
PrismLauncher-Cracked lets you play without Ely.by as well, just pick a username and press play
I think you can use elyprism to play without an ely.by account too, i used to do that
You might be right, I’ve never used ElyPrism and I didn’t see anything about offline accounts without ely.by but I might’ve missed something or they just didn’t include it in their README
You can restrict access to just your friend’s public IPs easy with ufw, use the launchers others mentioned and I am sure it will be fine. Or just use regular Prism and be Steve.
