A source within Japan's prime minister's office said Thursday that the country needs nuclear weapons, remarks that deviate from the country's long-standing non-nuclear principles and could trigger backlash at home and abroad.
As someone who admittedly isn’t super familiar with Japan’s military, and only vaguely of their politics, this sounds obvious with the current state of the world. China seems to be rapidly arming, and they’ve seen how unreliable US support is in the lack of support for Ukraine and the increasingly unstable current government.
If anything, I’m really shocked more nations aren’t re-arming.
If you read up on it, a lot of nations are starting to re-arm or at least talk more about it. It kinda feels like the lead up to something bad as everybody is starting to get jittery.
