Jokes aside, you’ll find several instances of “normal community” having a “right wing normal community” spin off, it happened in online chat channels, then in forums, now Reddit.
The right’s ideology is fundamentally unfit for harmonic co-existing with everybody else, so it’s no surprise they always need to isolate themselves in a bunker.
I think if you’re a little less self-congratulatory you’ll realise it’s often just the same process where everyone thinks the folks on lemmy.ml are a bunch of nutters and congregate to other places.
You might be right about what happened here, but it might also be a load of people who call everything to the right of Bernie Sanders Nazism and were sick of it. Forming spin-off communities is what the fediverse is all about, so why would we criticise those guys for doing it?
I do think the subdivision and compartmentalisation of discourse is a problem, but we sure ain’t solving it here in the fediverse lol
They can do whatever they want. I never said they shouldn’t create spin-off communities.
I’m well within my right to point, laugh, and recognize the right is so atrocious at harmoniously dealing with differences that they keep creating their bunkers. Simple as that. Go ahead and create whatever community you want, with whatever justification you see fit.
It turns out, when you kick people out of a community for being toxic, racist, or otherwise counterproductive to maintaining a community… they go form a right wing spinoff of that community. I feel like it says a lot that when you kick people out for traits that aren’t “being right wing”, they form communities around that shared identity.

Also they did it to punk, emo, goth and metal subcultures through subcultural parasitism.
Of course they did, because they are incapable of creating anything original and worthwhile

Happens with leftists and really all kinds of extremists as well.
Like how the Donald Duck subreddit got a spinoff called The_Donald
Then one of them inevitably opens up a place like this, looking more or less like this…
