It is very clearly tongue-in-cheek.
Obviously it’s a joke, but the point is that using a controller is so unremarkable that it’s just weird to make the joke. If they hint at this kind of attitude, it makes me wonder if it’s actually a thing in their bubble.
It’s not really weird.
