Nope. I love a lot of aspects of this show. I’m not a fan of forcing a show to last x amount of seasons but we’ll see how it pans out long term. For now I’m enjoying every single episode and I can’t wait until the next one comes out. It’s not without its flaws but it brings a lot of fresh aspects to the table.
Is saying you have a four season plan the same as forcing a show to last x number of seasons? Four isn’t some arbitrary number, it’s how many seasons the creator of the show thinks it will take. Vince wants to tell a story and he is saying I need four seasons of episodes to do it.
It’s not a hard limit, but on the other hand it is an agreed amount of time between stakeholders which carries weight and expectations. Creative work does tend to defy fitting into time constraints. I’m not saying it’s impossible to harmonize agreed time and creative work, but an agreed time constraint will be impactful in the creative work itself. We’ve all seen so many instances of excellent series turning average because they dragged for too long, or terrible endings because they ran out of time or had the carpet pulled out of their feet.
No, I love it. It’s my favorite show that premiered this year.
It’s not a bad show. It’s got a good premise and it’s produced well, but its pacing is divisive. I personally found the pace ok when I could binge a few episodes back to back (I started a few week late), but now I’m watching week-to-week I’m finding the pace too slow.
I like it being slow from a conceptual standpoint as Carol is slowly learning about them, slowly coming to terms with her own grief, and it emphasizes her isolation. I think it would diminish those elements if they were condensed. That said, a lot of people I talk to mirror the pacing complaints. If I recall correctly, Breaking Bad didn’t really take off initially either, so I’m hopeful that happens here too since I already like the show.
Breaking Bad started fairly quickly, getting to the point of the show basically all within the span of the first episode. But the context is a bit different. Breaking Bad’s pilot was filmed to be shopped around, and so was meant to basically tell a complete enough story to encapsulate the entire premise.
Pluribus is a show that was picked up just from the reputation of its creator. Apple TV greenlit multiple seasons before filming had even begun, the premise was kept secret all the way up to the premiere of the first episode, and so it has the liberty of being able to take its time getting to the point.
Better Call Saul, on the other hand, was similarly slow at first. And they spent way too much time in the first season trying to fit in as many Breaking Bad callbacks as they could before it really started going anywhere. But it was excellent when it came into its own.
I like it but need to step it up a notch. Speed it up 25% or give me more development. BB and BCS wasn’t at the same pace.
I doubt it’ll make it.
Having just one forward step in the plot per episode will just about get people through a season. When the season is over I think a lot of people won’t return for S2.
Maybe viewership will fall off, but so far it’s a hit

It might be most watched on Apple TV but there’s an element of subscription numbers in that metric. If you look at RT audience ratings it seems to have landed on the second tier of high profile Apple shows.

Silo is onto season 3 soon, and it seems to be doing the same numbers. Hopefully they give him a heads up if it’s cancelled.
As it stands I dont see how it could go on for 4 seasons. Unless seasons 2 and 3 are nothing but filler. Or like 2 episodes long.
It just feels like a 2 season show no matter how the story resolves (Carol wins or Carol loses).
I didn’t think Better Call Saul or Breaking Bad could last as long as it did. Good thing I wasn’t the creator of those shows.
Took 52 hours to watch all of “Breaking Bad”.
Loved it!
there were plenty of “visible” stops/detours that could be made with the storylines of those 2 shows to keep them going though. (Regardless of outside issues like ratings or dumb execs)
With Pluribus not so much. (Not without drastically changing what the show is)
I’m loving Pluribus, but they’ve kinda prematurely blown their load with a couple of (pontential) story lines. We’ve seen Carol go “nuts” because of loneliness. Manousos made his journey and is meeting up with her next episode.
Im sure Vince has a plan, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good one - or even if it is that it will be successful.
People are people. Nobody is perfect - everyone makes mistakes/missteps. No one makes 100% of the shots they take.
Breaking Bad was just a two season show, Walt either wins or he loses.
Better Call Saul should have just been a one season show, we already know he’s Saul Goodman.

Breaking Bad was interesting because we watched Walt go from a mild mannered high school chemistry teacher to murderous meth kingpin.
Better Call Saul was interesting because we saw a screw up little brother turn into a huge drug lawyer. (It’s more than that, but I’ll keep it light on the details for now.)
And Carol? Look at episode 1 Carol versus this past episode Carol. How will the new episode/finale change her again? There is a lot of ways the story could go, and I’m excited to see what happens.
I don’t think the series is engaging enough to pass season 2
more boring than anticipated, and if you’ve seen the similar rick and morty eps, they covered so much of the ground which is being delivered piecemeal here, so the concepts don’t feel fresh.
