Get as many people as possible onboarded and using the product and making it mainstream before recouping losses. Fortunately that’s a stupid idea with no practical value and it seems they’re starting to realize that so they’ve reallocated the budget to the next stupid thing they’re trying to make happen with no practical value.
It’s more than that. It’s a hostile business move to corner the market and kill off other brands, they absolutely had the money to accomplish this. The brand image? They failed that speech check. Beyond that, there simply isn’t enough interest in VR to make a killing off of a monopoly even if they had one.
