    Actually, you can text 911. Many counties have setup that service. We got it working quite early in the counties I worked EMS in because voice calls are often quite sketchy due to poor cell service. You can easily be somewhere that a voice call can’t work, but you just might have enough service to send text,

      Also good for domestic violence and other situations where a voice call would make things worse.

      Actually I got in a drunk fight with my SO and called the cops (not my finest moment) and then told them “nevermind.” They texted back to ask if I was really OK, if I was being coerced, etc. I was pretty impressed. I don’t drink anymore.
