The first draft law also included a ban on non-stick saucepans, but this has been removed following reports of “intense lobbying” from French manufacturer Tefal.
On its website, Tefal confirms it does not use any PFAS considered carcinogenic by health authorities and hasn’t used materials containing PFOA (a type of forever chemical known for its heat resistance) since 2012.
Instead, it uses PTFE coatings for its pans and pots, which it says pose “no risk to human health and [are] safe for food contact”.
However, multiple studieswarn that PTFE-coated cookware may release micro and nanoplastics into food during preparation.
PTFE also releases toxic fumes that are not only dangerous, but also extremely and unavoidably lethal for birds.
Tefal needs to be shut down with their crap.
Exception is PTFEs in non-stick cookware. Not carcinogenic, but can break down into micro and nano plastics.
And it will when you will cook with it. And not just nano plastics but carcinogenic ones. And forever ones.
And the process for getting PTFE to adhere to any surface requires large amounts of other nasty carcinogenic PFAS.
I worry about this with thread tape too. Its fine while its being used but every time you undo a fitting it needs replacing.
Meanwhile the US deregulates, and continues poisoning the entire planet.
I hope someday soon there is an eco-Nuremburg to bring justice to the science deniers that killed and maimed so many millions.
