Misk your takes are normally pretty good, but not this time.
Pretty much every journalist still uses Twitter, and yes they pay for the blue badge. The BBC themselves pay Twitter even more for a gold badge. You’ve used loaded language to frame a completely normal thing as a negative to smear this journalist.
Owen Jones is not just “some political influencer” (once again loaded language), he is a journalist who writes for The Guardian and contributes to the New Statesman, Tribune, and The National and was previously a columnist for The Independent.
If Owen Jones has somehow faked this evidence, the BBC will be coming after him for libel. This is not something he would do for shits and giggles, making such a claim has strong real world implications that he must feel comfortable that he can defend in a court of law.

I stand corrected. I have trouble with treating people who are still active on Twitter seriously, hence the snark.
It’s understandable, everyone really needs to get off Twitter and stop giving it any legitimacy. I’d even settle for them using BlueSky at this point.
Accountability 😍
