No thanks… hard pass
I’m so excited for this series.
I was a huge Game of Thrones fan and between the break of season 4 and 5 read all the main series books and novellas. I’ve been excited for the possibility of a Dunk and Egg series ever since, especially the first season sincerely I think that’s the best of the three released stories so far.
The ending of Game of Thrones hurt more than any other show I can think of. House of the Dragon did pull me back in, especially with the strong first season. But it wasn’t the show I wanted, it just happened to work well.
But Dunk the lunk? Based on all the media I’ve seen, they’ve nailed this show. Based on the reviews, this show is what I expect it to be.
I think the lower stakes of the show might be tricky, and at 30 minutes spread over 6 weeks, it’s a different vibe than previous shows in the series. But I think by the finale, everyone will be onboard.
Yes, the last two seasons are especially terrible.
The first four seasons are solid. Five is where things start to slip, six has its issues, seven we all forgive because we assume it’s in service of season eight, but… It isn’t.

I rewatched all of it a couple years ago and I believe the end of the truly solid material is when tywin dies. after that its a linear decline into just terrible television. really a shame.
when it was good, my housemates and I would all watch last weeks episode again and then the new one, and we would all gargle the entire theme song with wine.
