A Moscow court has ordered the arrest of former world chess champion Garry Kasparov in absentia, accusing him of promoting terrorist content online. The Zamoskvoretsky District Court issued the ruling following charges brought under Russia’s anti-terrorism laws. The court decision, reported by the state-run news agency Tass, stated that the arrest is a preventive measure and will come into effect if Kasparov enters Russian territory or is extradited.
