Criticizing something that’s directly perceived can never fall under that definition. “Splaining” requires action taken based on an unjustified assumption of ignorance. If you’re criticizing something that’s obviously apparent, there’s no assuming going on.

Same currently happens when you browse #meme on the Fedi in general, endless agitprop accounts freshly created who do nothing but post political memes with a few normal ones sprinkled in for plausible deniability.
