As a guy who never played FF7 is this version worth it? Or I can get a good experience modding a psx one? I’ll be honest the blocky map models are too off putting for me.
The graphics have not aged well. If you want to stay close to the original experience though, there are numerous mods that swap the field models for the ones used in battle.
Do you tend to find yourself prefering the magitech futuristic ones, like 8 and 15, or do you prefer the classic fantasy setting ones like 6 and 9?
If you’ve played other final fantasy games, and like the magitech future ones, then I’d say get it. its only 5 bucks, thats an easy price to justify for a game thats going away and never coming back… and depending on what changes they make to their yet to be released update, 2013 might end up becoming a preferable version to have.
Honestly, its going away forever, so even if you don’t like the magitech ones… might be worth 5 bucks just to have it in case you might want to play it 3 years down the line.
As for story and graphics, well, its a 29 year old game, man. 2013s version is more improved over PSX, but its still gonna be a 29 year old game. If you are someone who cant tolerate retro gaming because of the graphics, then you’ll probably not enjoy FF7… You can mod the graphics, but last I tried (granted, this was years ago)the modding was kind of a pain in the ass and I was never able to successfully get through it… and even the modded graphics might not be up to what you want from a game.
I love 6 and 8 played 4 and such. But the blocky style killed all situations for me is not that I like.cool graphics they looking like chinese lego knock offs was too much. I honestly want to play it and most probably still will when I have the time now I have to study databricks for a work opportunity.
In short I will play it regardless but damn those legos.
If thats the case, then I’d wager you’ll probably enjoy playing the game and stop paying attention to the graphics by the time you get out of the starting area.
