tumblr post where first post reads, alternate universe where when darth vader declares that he’s Luke’s father Luke comes to the (entirely reasonable) conclusion that darth vader and anakin skywalker were married
reply reads, How could you kill your HUSBAND?!" and Luke gets away with his hand because Anakin’s too confused trying to figure out when he and Obi Wan got married and why he’s only learning about it now
edit: also I’m @QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works, I think my home instance is updating or sthm right now 🤷♀️

He knew his father was Anakin Skywalker. He didn’t know that Anakin was a Jedi until Obi Wan told him in A New Hope (his uncle lied and said he was a freighter pilot or something), and didn’t know Anakin and Darth Vader were the same person until the end of The Empire Strikes Back (because they weren’t the same person until the writers decided on that twist while making that movie).
Leia being his sister was a similar twist pulled out of their asses while writing the third movie, in the hopes of recreating the “I am your father” hype.
I do not remember him knowing that Anakin Skywalker is his father. Who told him?
I agree with all the ret, which is what makes this thread assumptions not work.
If nobody else, Obi-Wan. Although the exchange at the Lars household over dinner suggests that Owen and Beru didn’t exactly hide his father’s name from him. Since “Anakin” doesn’t appear at all in the script until after the twist, it’s likely that there wasn’t a firm name for him until ROTJ.
Luke definitely knew he had a father, though. And had an idea of who he was from the aunt and uncle who raised him, Obi-Wan, and even the rebel pilots.–
No they kept the rebels, evil empire & everything within that from him, because did want him to expose himself to being on that planet, to the evil empire.
