Years ago, I read a memoir by a real-life, retired cat burglar. He made a specialty of burglarizing wealthy penthouses. He said it was shocking how many penthouse owners leave their balcony doors unlocked, thinking they’re safe.
He would take the stairs to the roof, and just drop down a rope to the penthouse balcony, which was almost always unlocked. Then he’d leave through the front door, and take the elevator down.
