Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom

Relay.
This was a really great thriller that Riz Ahmed and Lilly James. It is directed by the same guy who directed Hell or High Water.
While the premise is fun, you just know all those Relay operators are gossiping about Riz with each other every time he calls
Absolutely!
And this one would be so juicy they would all be no the lookout for the caller.
Thirteen Lives
It’s good. I put in on for myself but it didn’t take long before my kids started watching with me. I didn’t really know any of the details of the event irl so was good to get an understanding of what happened and how they were saved.
Viggo was so great in that movie.
Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie 4/5: I saw this with no context for mystery movie Monday. This was pretty funny but I very clearly was not in on whatever the joke was. After the movie I did some review and apparently this is some combo of sketch/reality prank show. Which explains some of the direct to camera commentary. Very funny, but it certainly could help from context
We Bury the Dead 2/5: It’s a zombie movie, but the zombie is your failed relationships! It’s not scary and it’s not impactful
Iron Lung 4/5: This is obviously an indie movie based on a video game, but it was also a smart choice (not that I’ve played the game or watched Markiplier). It all takes place in one tube and the world building is intentionally murky. Pretty good eldritch horror
Scarlet 3/5: Is it an isekai if the other world is hell? Perfectly down the middle anime
F1 2/5: Predictable, overlong, and pushes a weird narrative. Worse than Gran Tursimo in basically every way
Robocop 4.5/5: So prescient it boarders on prophetic. It’s funny, smart, and has a lot to say, absolutely still worth watching
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby 3.5/5: I have some nostalgia for this but was shocked that it holds up as well as it does. I might not suggest it if you’re sober or have no nostalgia but honestly it wasn’t nearly as offensive as I expected. Especially considering Sacha Baron Cohen plays a flaming European
Blood Tea and Red String (2006) - cool & weird dialogue-free stop motion animation, i liked it a lot even if some of the symbolism maybe went over my head.
28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple (2026) - i enjoyed this more than Years Part 1, pleasantly surprised by how much fun it ended up being.
so a quiet week on the movie front for me, but a good one 😌
I watched Under the silver lake and The smashing machine. Both good movies in my opinion. Was a bit confused after watching the first one though.
