      About that:

      ‘jazz’: etymology unknown. Numerous references suggest that the term may be connected to ‘jasm’ and ‘jism’.

      But what is ‘jism’?

      ‘jism’: first attested with the meaning “energy” in 1842, and with the meaning “semen” in c.1888.
