The LemmyNSFW is basically just eating up all the resources it can at this point, at first I thought it was just postgrea and the main server, but pictrs is also doing it.

I have stopped lemmynsfw processes on the server, but my VPS provider has limited performance on the server, so Fedinsfw will most likely be very very slow for a week :( sorry for the inconvenience guys.

So this is why every time I refresh I got 504 haha. I love this better than Lemmy tbh. The features and tools makes more sense and the default UI is quite nice.

I’ve seen some of the communities made here, copying exactly the description I’ve made on LemmyNSFW (because I created those communities). Not trying to control or anything, but I’d love too mod them as well just keep it clean and moderated.

But, nonetheless, good job man. This is really a nice alternative.

In the intro post LP said he was creating LemmyNSFW communities here just to start building up content and that mods from any communities he brought over could contact him to get modded on the new ones. You can probably just pm him with the communities you want to either get ownership or just be added as a mod.

It’s awesome that you try to keep the old site alive as archive, but if that means that the new site is throttled after just one day because the weekly quota was eaten up by the archive … I don’t know, man.

Maybe create a static dump of the site’s rendered HTML and images and distribute it as torrent?

Yeah a torrent is a good idea actually because the content is never expected to change. And depending on the folder strucutre, people could just seed a subset of communities to save space, so maybe only the communities they’re interested in.

How much space does the whole archive take up? I could spare a few TB on my NAS but I suspect it may be more than single digit TBs?

I would suggest using an account from another instance to access the communities, federation is working, the ui is just very very slow
