Young men, maybe. I’m in my 40s and there’s no way in hell I’m sleeping on a thin mattress on the floor. That would destroy my back.

I spent the last 13 years of my life sleeping on Japanese futons and am now sleeping on a full box spring mattress for the first time since.

I can’t remember the last time I had this much trouble sleeping. What I wouldn’t give to have a “thin mattress on the floor” again.

I had a fancy ass futon for about 2 years, first on the floor and then with all kinds of extensions (like a mattress topper and slatted base) it was killing my back. After that I’ve tried 3 different mattresses (two spring ones and a memory foam) and now finally a proper box spring bed from an actual furniture store that the salesperson helped us choose – and my dog does it make a difference! Also buying a good pillow helped a ton. I’ve decided I’m getting too old to sleep in an unsuitable bed. Most of the hotel beds I’ve slept in after getting the new bed feel like crap.

Most nights I sleep on the cheap, hard futon couch I’ve had since college. If I sleep in my actual bed too many nights in a row, my back starts to get stiff.

I never slept on a cheap thin mattress, but my mattresses have been on the floor for more than 30 yrs. You can keep your box spring and frame. And I’m 50
