I swear, that is the hotel room I stayed at in CA. Looks like the Huntington Beach Springhill Suites.

That’s the read you take from the comic? I read it as, “here’s this entrenched system that is clearly harmful but was also overcome”. The presentation is essentially a reductio ad absurdum, not a comparison.

Completely agree, which is why I put so much blame on the voters. People continue to be incredibly easy to manipulate, which is what my reply was about. We should have seen a democratic wave, and collapse of republicans. Again, not because the dems were so awesome, but because of the clear, unambiguous horrors of the orange anus.
Don’t get me wrong, the musks and other powers that be deserve all the blame as well, but those such forces are always what we’re up against. Yet people still absorb the message subconsciously and vote on the feels they were manipulated into having.
Dems without a doubt deserve a lot of blame too, but we can deal with incompetence over maliciousness.

*Trump won the popular vote because Kamala was cosigning a genocide
How did that work out you fucking morons (not you, unless you were one of them)? This is not a defense of Harris, but it was plain as day that this orange asshole would be an order of magnitude worse on the issue.

Excellent reference.

I paid for it ages ago on a deal, and it currently suits my needs. It runs as a docker container and it just works. It’s easy enough for my elderly mom to use remotely and I’ve ripped my entire movie collection for her to watch. I also like the live tv that’s included with the pass.
I would switch in a heartbeat if it wasn’t doing what I need, but so far I have no complaints, it works well for my family’s needs.

Yeah, I’m sure my normal is not regular normal, I’m an old graybeard so my perspective is a bit off.
But a pihole is super easy. Mine runs in a VM in Proxmox now, but I’ve run it on a raspberry pi and as a docker container as well. Well worth a shot.

I honestly don’t know what I’m doing right, just typical stuff I’d think.
I have a pihole as my dns/dhcp. I use Firefox with enhanced tracking protection turned on, ublock origin and privacy badger.
On my phone I have AdGuard (paid one time license fee).
I still am seeing YouTube without ads. I occasionally have to reload a video, but no showstoppers yet. Only posting my setup in case it help anyone else. Hopefully it’s not instructions for them on what to attack next…

Can’t it be both? All the worlds current biggest problems are caused by this bullshit techbro disruptive bullshit. Door dash and AI are from the same ecosystem.

It takes a bit of time to find the right distro and that is the biggest obstacle to linux imo.
It’s also the greatest benefit. Vanilla stuff works out of the box for most, but once you need more, there’s a paved runway headed in any direction you want to go (some in better shape than others to be fair).
Windows and OS X are certainly wider runways, but there are cliffs off the side of you want to change direction.
Good things usually take time, but you will know where you are when you get there.
Yep, I use Dr. Bronners for everything. Especially when camping, when it’s: hair, face & body, toothpaste, shaving cream, dish detergent, bug repellant, emergency lubricant (stuck stoves, tentpole, etc), laundry soap, and anything else I can find to use it for.

Sorry for the tired gif, but this is my exact reaction.

This shit drives me up a wall. The local, formerly awesome pizza place switched to DoorDash for delivery and it has sucked ever since. Pizza arrives cold since door dash drivers don’t have insulated bags, half the time they chuck it on the front porch and it sits there on the cold concrete even longer.
Delivery driver was always a reliable stoner job, I had so many friends in my youth who delivered pizza. Despite the cloud of weed smoke that came with the pizza, it was always hot and fast. They were motivated to get those tips after all.
I’m waiting for the inevitable hantavirus parties. Gotta make sure little Timmy earns his immunity!

It’s not that tiny, it’s at least 27%.

I bought my Bambu back when orca slicer and local network was out of the box supported. It was only a few months later that they locked out their firmware and started down this path.
I’ve been steadfastly refusing to update firmware. I hope to modify it someday but if not, I’ll just make sure it’s my last Bambu.

I’m m an Infrastructure architect and engineer, this is the same problem in enterprise. Cloud, SaaS, proprietary vendors, they all want to lock you. Time and place for all of it, but you’ve gotta know what you are getting yourself into.
What chance does the average, non-30 year veteran of industry have? It’s bad out there.
Yes and no, I only buy refurbs these days, so long as they work out of the box, they have been far more reliable than retail drives from a box store.
Definitely higher incidents of DOA drives, but the ones that work, have been pretty solid.
Still don’t trust spinning rust, so in addition to dual parity raid, I also have a full backup copy. But I no longer have reservations about refurb drives…
