mhhhh, I wonder if there is a hormone that is to being a greedy POS as ghrelin is to hunger? We should start cutting into billionaires until we find it.

It turns out there are more than zero options between “do nothing” and “become what you hate”. Many in fact.
Also, just a plain old idiot. Imagine having the magical power to kill anyone undetected and you’re like “hooray, I can go after local crooks!”. Had Light ever seen a newspaper? Did he know the world outside his city existed? If you aren’t starting with and primarily focusing on people globally known are you even trying?
Exactly. A person can want every nazi dead and hope that nobody has to die while being completely logically and morally covered.

It’s a real sign of our times that so many can not differentiate between a plagiarism fueled talking machine and a thinking machine.

Accusing a site of being left bias then turning it into a right wing shithole has, sadly, worked time and time again. Let’s hope Wikipedia can keep holding out.

I hate it when the default state is turned into the negative. Every time I have to specify “unsweet tea” I feel the sands of my lifeforce slipping away.
But reading and learning from a library, then writing and selling your own book based on that is NOT stealing. It’s the wrong argument.
A powerful argument if one cannot tell the difference between a person and a product.
It was. As was watching the submarine races since there were multiple viable, errr, seating arrangements. A glorious time to be alive.

Are these the vandals they’re arresting for pouring in corrosive chemicals, walking in the pool, and scraping off the poorly done, poorly conceived paint job?

It’s so neat to have a problem that combines poor numeracy with not being able to see two steps ahead. Yeah, if could somehow grow the Venn diagram of people with those two skills that would be great.

This is the way

This is probably the single most important thing we plebs can do.

1% of the global population with PhDs is a choice.
If we just counted phds that becomes 800 million people
Ouch. And to follow that up with “intelligence is often underestimated by cynics imo”. Simply brutal. I hate to be the one to break this too you, but having a PhD doesn’t necessarily mean a person is smart. Even if it did, that 1% is sort of entirely making my above point about society.

Article leaves out tires and tire wear pollution which is significant and bad stuff. It’s also worse in heavier vehicles. Yes, EVs, especially if CATL can get their sodium battery line off the ground, are better overall, but let’s not oversimplify. Also, the most environmental car is still a car…

We went from zero cars to everything covered in cars in a lifetime, we can go back in a lifetime.

That seems like a fair percentage estimate. What you’re leaving out is society. The ancient Greeks, even the 99.9% dummies, were excited about philosophy and learning. Today, Joe Rogan is one of the most popular podcasts in the world and you can’t throw a stick without hitting a dozen grifters proudly parroting logical fallacies while people clap. So yeah, there might be eight million people out there, but their thoughtful blog probably gets a dozen hits a month. Their world changing lecture was cancelled for being woke. Their exciting revelation they add to the conversation get overshadowed by someone yelling how great “Oh! My Balls!” was last night.
In the above video, his decision to attend a protest wearing a beard is beyond dubious. I sure hope he had several independent lawyers weigh in on exactly what he could say and do that won’t violate the court order, because on the surface that seems like begging the judge to throw him in jail. Even if he technically followed the order, the appearance of it is probably enough for the judge to go nuclear.
Most everything leading up to that I could write off as a combination of telling a good story, boundary testing, and shining a light on how absurdly corrupt our criminal Justice System is in operation, but that beard scene has me concerned that Ben just lost whatever ground he had to stand on.
