He was literally given the option to take donations or commissions instead.

He made a mod that uses the IPs name and assets packaged and sold. In violation of the licence agreement of the games assets.
He’s in violation of IP and copyright. It’s really cut and dry here.
He did not make a stand alone product that is fully self sufficient that just happens to support the game. No, he made a direct modification of someone else’s code/product and is selling it with out permission.

The licence involves with the os, the tooling, the development environments explictedly allow for these things.
You can not be this fucking stupid can you?
If you make something you get to dictate how others use it, if you choose to have it be free and open that’s your choice. Just as it is if you wish for it to be restricted. It’s common fucking courtesy to not steal.
Modders cant make what they make with out the assets and game. They are using someone else’s property.
For example thats the entire fucking crux of things like say OpenMW vs Tamriel rebuilt. One is a standalone product that doesn’t reuse assets or has any dependencies on Bethesda assets. While the other reuses them all over the place.
OpenMW could charge for their product. It’s worthless with out the game, but still is entirely a functional standalone thing. The other literally can’t function with out someone else’s assets.

Realistically impossible. If you want to actually make any real amount of money, have any real reach or have an actually functional product.
Which end of the day is the entire point for the assholes pay walling mods. They arnt part of the community they are trying to profit off the community.
A donation jar, a side patreon, merch there are endless ways to monitize your work. But trying to do it in the shadows just because you know your being a shit stain, is never goanna work out well.
No one’s forcing you to share your mod, if you think you deserve money or you won’t release it. Then just don’t release it.
Paid for mods have never, will never, and can never. Be a good idea or healthy for a modding community.

People always seem to forget stream DRM is ENTIRELY optional and a developer choice.
And beyond that 90% of the games people think use steam drm don’t actually use it. The only reason steam needs to run is because of the steam overlay. Remove the dll that hooks into steam for the overlay and the vast VASTY majority of all games on steam are entirely portable and drm free.
You would be easily able to find someone willing to butt chug an entire bottle of bleach before you find a single normal human that gives a single flying fuck about the security of their phones digital wallet out side of lemmy and the most shut in circles of nerdom.
It’s just not a real argument, care or reality.
Is that a problem? More then likely yes. But is it the reality of the situation.
Phones are something people already carry around. Most young adults don’t even keep their IDs on them anymore and just have pictures of them in their phone.
I work a job that requires frequently IDing people at a gate. In the last 3 months out of over 10k people only a handful even had their wallet on them while driving.
I’m just handed their phone with their gallery open to their id.

Yeah but lumo is basically just a side gimmick thing that isn’t integrated with the rest of their suite.
It’s basically the equivalent of a self hosted small LLM that you don’t have to fuck around with setting up.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with LLMs as a tool. The problem is the misuse, misapplication and over scaling of them.
If they were all just one off tools like lumo that are basically slightly more advanced digital assistants they would be fine. LLMs are fantastic for quickly searching shit with crap discoverability for example. They routinely are more effective at finding random useful results in say reddit or stack overflow or even some weird forum on the 12th page of Google.

Literally just a dual sense controller. Every feature works on Linux. Has a touch pad so you don’t need a mouse or some weird toggle.
It’s the perfect PC controller.
There’s always bad advice going on. That’s like the single biggest problem with the Linux community since time began.
The Linux communities biggest problem is being unable to remotely grasp the concept of good advice for “truly” new or low skilled users.
Even the best attempts still tend to fall victim to the curse of knowledge. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_knowledge
Then when you combo that with the all too frequent Dunning Krueger problem new users tend to have.
You get shit like this.
Iv seen more then one house that burned down due to flooding.
The house next to my uncle’s when I was a kid did that. The entire first flood was flood something like 7 or 8 feet of water, but due to the water it caused the gas lines to fuck up which started a fire that climbed up the inside of the walls and lit the second floor on fire.
So the first floor was underwater, the inside of the walls and the second floor was on fire.
And the basement became a new pool!
The worse part was a bunch of the trees lit up and managed to catch the house behind it on fire as well.
Sometimes shit really does just suck.

SDDM is a duct taped together mess. It’s functional in so far that it works. If your nice to it and never ask it to do anythung weird.

For most of early wallets existence it did only work McDonald’s lol

Honestly a less easy to accept dialog would go a long way.
Just make it require ADB. Iv had my grandfather fall victim to a crypto scam that got him to install a app on his phone.
As much as we hate it, google is the only one who has any power to prevent abuse of the stupid, elderly and gullible. Someone has too.
There is a line of going to far to protect people that just makes things worse for everyone. But the reality is, our freedom comes at the expense of others freedom.
Finding the balance is hard.

A good mic is 200 bucks, good pair of headphones is 200 bucks.
It cost more to shrink something’s size and keep the same quality.
So unless your headset costs like 600+ dollars either the mic is shit or the headphones are shit. Typically both.
So unless you fucking hate money for some stupid reason. Stop buying shit headsets.

My cat weirdly aggressively hates them. She hisses at them and tries to bite me the like two times iv ever offered her one.
She normally doesn’t even purr she makes no noises and gets scared if she catches her self making any. So for her to actively hiss is wild.
Cats are wierd

Had a problem like this a year ago, figured out it was because I was using display port. Some weird quirk of its protocol basically fubars it.
Switching to hdmi cables fixes the problem.
But HDMI cables have bigger issues so I just learned to deal with the problem.

Are you really complaining that community effort and team work are a bad thing…? I’m confused here, it sounds like you are. But that can’t be right.

The only actual Nvidia problem iv seen in 5 years is that monster hunter wild is broken on their newer drivers only on 5000 series cards because of nvidia’s own choices.
Which is also broken on windows. So it’s just a Nvidia problem.

Life protip, if you arnt using Debian, as in normal Debian. Just use fedora or arch.
If you need anything remotely up to date, just avoid anything and everything that uses apt. You will have Infinitly less headaches.
There’s a good fucking reason valve uses arch.
I can fucking begrudge them. If they don’t like to don’t fucking make it or share it.
You can and are free to make art for the sake of your own enjoyment. But fuck off if you feel like your entitled to get paid for working off the back of someone else’s effort just because you wasted your own time on it.
If you wanted to make money then go make your own thing for that purpose.
No one is entitled to get paid for their efforts. And no one is entitled to be allowed to make money off someone else’s labor.
Two brain cells rubbed together should make it really obvious that wasting years of your life on something someone else made to try to make money is a bad idea.
We all take a risk when we do something new and hope to make enough money to make it all worth it. No short cuts.
