Yes. Its faster and easier now to make a payment if you give the company rights to bill you whatever they want whenever and directly pull it from your account but boy are they resistant to sending a bill and then having it billed and you pushing the payment from your banks billpay and such.
Im not sure if your looking for a simple install and go type of setup but I often recommend zorinos as the free community type edition mimics the feel of windows and it comes with wine and play on linux from the get go. its a ubuntu using gnome spin so it sounds like it would work for you.

They were great in the aughts. Once the iphone became the flagship it went downhill. Believe it or not at one point macphiles bragged about how many more ports they had than typical windows machines and how much more powerful they were spec wise.

Possibly but my role was such Im really only supposed to be working on my project and not monkey with the server which is used by other projects. I don’t think it was a restriction I think it was just laziness by whoever set it up.

steam is based on arch so you would have to add those two and then compare and that is 48.7 so all the rest would have to be debian.

well its text but its just a bit more complex of a flat file. like yaml. like one thing I really liked about cisco ios was how the config file the commands where pretty much the same thing. granted thats not unix but its the simplicity level that is ideal to me.
yeah I just hate the move away from flat text files honestly. Its one thing I did not like about windows NT with the registry. databasing up the config.
I allow override and on occasion allow the override. I use it like no script. If it needs modification I ask myself how motivated I am to see it.
