They responded to it when it first came up 4 months ago. I’ll paste my appropriate comment from that time.

The f-droid team spoke to that in a recent post. The post basically said that if that change isn’t stopped on a government level there’s no way for them to continue working. They didn’t mention roms.

I’m not worried. Either it’ll only affect their dedicated servers. Or it’ll be integrated into mastodon itself and then quickly forked.

Thanks for the help and advice. What was the issue with your meshtastic experiment? If it’s location granularity that’s something I might be prepared to deal with.

My privacy expectations are as follows:

• No account needed with any major tech monopoly
• No app where any data other than tag location is transmitted through the internet. Ideally the data transmission would have e2ee.

I’d like to add that you can setup Adguard or Pihole in your network to use microsoft telemetry blacklists to limit their sniffing. My work laptop constantly reminds me that I’m not connected to the internet although everything works fine, because it can’t reach the captive portal 😄

I’ve taken a look at the website and honestly, I can’t make out what the discerning features of that distro are. It’s fast and atomic. So are a dozen others. Why did we need one more?

I’m not going to make friends here but I think it’s overhyped.

• The premise is fresh and interesting
• The VO is absolutely stellar in French and English
• The story is very focused on interpersonal relationships and leaves overarching questions unresolved
• The game is experimenting on putting souls like timing mechanics in a turn based rpg
• The experiment does not work however. Either you’re good at timing QTEs and can beat the story with absolutely no regards to any of the other game mechanics. Or you’re bad at them and will fail every second enemy encounter. Everything resolves around those QTEs.
• The environments feel overloaded. Like typical indy level designers that equate flash and colors with beauty.

All in all it’s fairly decent and I support any studio trying to risk something new. Some of it worked well, a lot didn’t.

Add some pointy bits to the ghosts heads and the picture gets a lot less wholesome

If someone else is in the mood for Skyrim but has done everything in it, try out Tainted Grail - Fall of Avalon. It plays like a smaller Oblivion. It really scratched the itch for more Elder Scrolls for me.

I’ve been using their service for a long time now and have been happy. Their GUI client is ok, but they also have a CLI client which I appreciate for automating stuff. I’m however paranoid and don’t upload files as is. Everything is backed up to an encrypted virtual drive which I upload as one giant file.
