There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

  • A number of weeks ago I noted that one app I use through Lutris for the various settings needed had stopped loading. So I did a lot of looking around to figure out what was going on (didn’t know it was Lutris, I searched mention of issues with the app, with Wine, etc.)

Finally ran across a bug report in the Lutris github that sounded like my problem. And part of it was how slow some updates filter out, so I ended up doing an uninstall from the manager and manually forcing an update. And all is good now.

I wonder if the bug was AI driven (don’t even recall what it was, it was a small update that broke things for some people).

Great to know I should probably expect more fires later. I probably need to see if I can make this app run on my own in Wine. A shame, it’s working fine as is. But I need to be ready.

  • Why DID is the correct phrasing? And there were reasons then. More bad than good, but that’s the advantage of being first, then biggest.

Why trust them now? It’s not trust when it’s what’s embedded everywhere, required by most large companies. The licensing that was Microsoft’s key into everything became dependency. And dependencies can be broken, but that takes time and effort. There’s been movement…

If they keep doing this Co-pilot shit, they’ll be helping the cause.

  • Is this one of those things Lucas had put in the script but someone wiser changed and didn’t tell him?

One of my favorite Red Letter Media quotes referring to the opening of Star Wars:

“We know everything we need to know just by the visuals. Rebels. Empire. We got a sense of how small and ill-equipped the rebels are and how large and powerful the Empire is. The low angle implies dominance, and the length of the Star Destroyer implies the Long Reach of the Empire. This shot says everything we need to know without saying one word. In fact, this is so genius, I have a feeling that George Lucas had nothing to do with it and probably fought against putting it in the movie.”

  • My canon belief is that Leia had a sense there was a connection to Luke (that she references to “always knowing”, which can mean a lot more than just about Luke) after she heard his calling out to her from Cloud CIty. This would be long after both kisses, and both of them were pretty innocent within context anyway.

As for Anakin, he was the most powerful at that point. We see this by the measurements (yeah, I hate that Lucas defined what was meant to be mystical), we see this by the later results in him matching up with other more experienced Jedi, and we see him as a severely crippled Vader who is still devastating to anyone. Anakin weakness wasn’t his abilities, but his lack of patience and control, thanks to maybe his age if Yoda was right, but the lack of the Council aiding what training could be done, and also fueling his fears and anger later.

Luke could be more powerful. We never see his peak level except in cases like in The Mandalorian. That Luke is Anakin-level but with control of his actions.
