That should be long enough to make sure consumer electronics, especially PCs, are dying.

The people doing the hiring will be too addle minded to recognize a working brain.

They say “Well people will just work in the upper levels, strategy, etc.” Uhhh, how do they think people develop the skills and instincts for those positions? Sure, you can train someone to go through the motions but they won’t know if they are good or bad, no experience with past mistakes and crisis, no sense of what will work or not, etc. It is like saying everyone will become the site manager but never put a house frame together or swung a hammer in their life.

No billionaire wants to live in a bunker for the rest of their life. They want adulation, people fawning over them, etc. They’d also need to continue to receive supplies, fresh food (you think they are going to put up with dried rations?), hookers, travel, etc. If they are cut off they will be no better than Hitler in his bunker.
History has shown when the leadership is corrupt everyone around them follows suit. Stealing whenever they can, abandoning their posts at the first chance, incompetence, security goes to whoever pays them the most, etc.

Don’t accept their money. “We’ve converted all cash to freedom bucks. Your money is no good here.”

The US debt is so high now that a UBI would push it over the edge most likely without massive tax increases. Decades of being told all taxes on anyone are evil probably mean people would walk off a cliff before doing that.

An old one is “eating your seed corn”. In other words eating the seeds you need to plant the next crop to survive now guaranteeing you will starve next season.

Businesses destroying the skills development pipeline by eliminating entry level jobs.
Retail is so polluted with AI scams and deceptive ads that the public is being driven off of any but the most well vetted sites. This is on top of the massive scams problem worldwide.

Now if they could just get people to put refrigerated/frozen food back where they found it instead of leaving it wherever they happen to be standing. I love finding some meat sitting on the cereal shelf. Lazy f’ers.

The thing I hate the most about supermarket self-checkout is they put the bag dispensers right against the scale where you need to put your bagged stuff. This leaves so little room the bag will fall over, etc so I have to put it on the floor. Then the register complains that I have removed it without paying, etc. FFS.

They need to put one of those “I understand” checkbox disclaimers when you start a session. “I understand that what I enter here could be subject to human review and reporting to law enforcement.”

Sounds like a gray area. She didn’t write it with the intention of it being transmitted to anyone. It wouldn’t be any different than writing it in a private diary. The BC lawsuit though puts them in an obvious bind so the law needs to choose a side, is it a private forum or not?

It’s wild reading about the old game systems, like Atari, and all the tricks and techniques they used to cram data and code into small amounts of memory.

The biggest issue with satellites is they are on a schedule. The soviets knew the schedule and would move things like trucks around when they knew it wasn’t overhead.
You might like this book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Black_(book) It goes into detail on the keyhole satellite program and such. He says he used publicly available info and so couldn’t be accused of violating classified restrictions.

You can’t visually see over the horizon and even then you have blocked lines of sight, etc. A satellite has no such restrictions.

I just need to get from point a to point b. I don’t need some goddamn home entertainment system connected to everything else.

The reason they got rid of surveillance jets is that satellites can do it without any risk to a pilot and on a 24 hr basis.

Should be a bargain finding parts for it. The people who built and worked on it are probably all retired or dead.

Whatever it is you will now spend an hour looking for the bug you are convinced they saw.
There is going to be a LOT of used hardware on the market if it does.
