it’s not locked for me, did they reverse it?

I have no idea what you’re saying but pop off queen 🗣️📣🔥
I genuinely have never heard of systemd before other than the meme about finding the next Friday the 13th or something
I’ve used Linux for a off and on combined total of 6 months (not counting Steamdeck desktop use)
well if you’re sick in bed this will be an easy fight…
I elbow slam your face, your turn
so Canonical is the Mozilla of Linux…
why did that last sentence sound so sexual 😭😭
ooo looks cool
On one side, if you have a brain you’re fine.
On the other side, *glances at general public typing google.com into google* …yeah
*guitar solo*
you can’t even poke fun at selfhosted people anymore because someone WILL 100% spend 48 hours straight 3d printing and programming a toothbrush

omg fr. Literally 2 days ago I had to Google an issue and fix it because APPARENTLY OneDrive wanted to randomly store some terraria files and would cause the game to crash anytime you try to load a game. That’s bad enough as is but the game would say “Error regarding exit point in floating point variable” or some other jargon like that, I don’t really remember it. And thus began my 45 minute journey to figure out what’s causing it.
Trying to play a simple game with my brother during a stressful time in our lives and dealing with his computer pulling random bs was so annoying. I miss when you could just plug in another controller :(
I won’t use it myself but developing any Open Source Software is more than deserving of one click of mine.
Also IIRC instance admins can see who upvotes so @ a lemmy.world admin if you think it’s actually bots (I doubt its bots personally)
everyone starts somewhere, it stars mindless then they eventually learn slowly but surely with a lot of mistakes. I did. I nuked my OS several times but now know a lot more about Linux because of it.
If you apply that thinking then 9/10ths of the Linux community wouldn’t have ever started using it.
Hell 99% of the non tech people I know IRL wouldn’t be able to send a text if that line of thinking is extended to them.
there not many easy results for “arch based distro with KDE how to [do thing]” but there are a lot of Steamdeck tutorials and a SteamOS desktop version would make it better
My yearly “I should try Linux again” cycle would probably stay permanently if Valve makes the OS
Controversial take but I think It’s weird how this community is so “FOSS is great even if it doesn’t have the 1 feature you need” then will turn around and say “Your unpaid labor for the good of this community is not acknowledged and because you wanted to make a UI in a language you know I will not only refuse to use it, but will shit on it”
Like I get you don’t like electron but there’s a lot of work that the developer put into it. I think that work should be appreciated instead of clowning on them! To use the line every terminal lover uses when someone asks for a UI: “It’s open source, make it yourself.” (note, I’m not saying terminal only programs are bad. It’s just annoying to be selectively “do it yourself” when someone else is asking for it and this meme when you’re asking for it)
(Unless this is about closed source programs, then yeah that’s fair.)
Ubuntus taskbar is sideways lol
all the people say “oh you don’t need to use the terminal! You can just use GUIS!”
like literally look at the search results for “how to run .sh linux” they’re ALL terminal based
first time trying Linux, installed Ubuntu. Over a few months I made a few mistakes but nothing major… untill I tried to delete VLC. Saw on some random forum that something called MKV was better. Googled how to delete a package and it turns out I deleted every dependency for VLC and not VLC itself. Totally nuked everything.
Just tried that. Would appear it doesn’t work if you can’t check for an update. Can’t figure out how to disable updates as I’m not that big into terminal use and can’t find much online :/
now would you like to be smushed by femcel with a forklift with or without a forklift certification?
