Some people get their validation from sex. They might not even like the sex. In fact they probably don’t enjoy it but they do like that bit of validation.

I keep jellyfin up to date in a container and forward tcp/8920 on my router to the container. Easy and plenty secure. People in this thread are wildly overthinking it.
Debian on my servers. Fedora on my laptop. Gentoo in my kitchen (yep that exact espresso machine). I’m all over the place.
Downsides include having to solve lots of captchas or just getting blocked by services. I prefer just booting up Tails and connecting through the VPN with that but give it a try.
